-What is it and WHY is my dog exhibiting this behavior?
Resource Guarding (RG) is a NORMAL behavior which we humans have artificially selected for and bred into most dog breeds - for thousands of years. Thus, it’s part of a dog’s genetic makeup and therefore we must NEVER punish the behavior - because the dog is essentially not doing anything wrong by guarding his resources.
As a dog parent experiencing this behavior issue in YOUR dog, we understand how frustrating and scary this behavior can be. This is why we have created two unique programs to address this very common issue in pet homes. What is needed is EDUCATION and the right resources and tools to work with.

Anything can become a valuable resource to guard for your dog…. Food items, toys, food/water bowls, a bed/couch/space, attention from humans, YOU, dinner table, kitchen counter, etc.
Dog fights often break out around resources, entry/exit points, doorways, hallways, by a fence or gate in the yard, any tight space in the home, etc.
But a dog can also guard his resources against YOU, or other humans/family members. This typically happens if the humans who live with the dog aren’t aware of how their own behavior around the dog may accidentally trigger or escalate this behavior.
At other times, resource guarding can be triggered by us humans taking things from the dog.
We can do a lot to minimize/prevent this behavior by becoming more aware of our own actions and becoming aware of dog body language, their need for space, choice, and knowing HOW to set the home environment up for success…….for one or more dogs.

Other options for help with behavior issues
If our Behavior Programs are outside your current budget, consider our Behavioral Wellness Package instead. It’s a more budget friendly option, even though it doesn’t come with quite the same perks as our Behavior Programs (hence the price difference). You may need to purchase 1 or more Follow-up sessions (but you get 15% discount on any subsequent service).
Your third, to some the most attractive option, is our TDT Club Subscription Service - which is definitely worth considering. You actually save a lot of money with this option. It works similar to a Payment plan but here you can enjoy the flexibility of being in charge of how much help you need. You only pay for what you need. Your first month does require a bigger investment (between $400-$463 typically) but from then on, you receive 15% discount on all Follow-up sessions and you earn 15 points every month, which means that for example every third month you only pay $150 for a follow-up session (normally, you will pay $212.50 with your 15% discount).
This option is a ‘PAY PER SESSION’ service.
Your subscription fee is your membership to our TDT CLUB. Your monthly fee ($175) automatically entitles you to a 60 mins Zoom session every month - OR you can swap this to an In-home session instead by purchasing an Add-on service. With your membership, you are in total control of how many sessions you need or want as you pay per session. After 3 months, you can (if you wish) 'downgrade' to our TDT CLIENT MEMBERSHIP for only $19.99 per month but with similar benefits and REWARDS.

Success in any of our programs is entirely dependent on YOUR commitment and dedication to wanting to help your dog(s) and to doing your homework. If you follow my recommendations and instructions and you use the tools you are given, you can, in most cases, expect to see progress within 1-2 sessions.
Behavior is not static, and no two dogs are the same - so to continue to see progress, you have to be willing to keep practicing and working with your dog even after a program is completed.
At the end of our program, you will have a much better understanding of your dog’s WHY and HOW to continue to help him/her navigate tricky situations much better.
It does not mean your dog will ‘magically’ stop having emotions or stop reacting to things in his environment. It means YOU now can help him handle things BETTER.
Just remember, YOU also react to things 24/7. But you too can learn to handle things better.
Each case is different and depends on the severity of the issues we are working on, as well as your level of commitment. Most clients should be able to continue on their own after investing in a program, but in more severe cases, you might have to invest in follow-up sessions until you reach your goals.
Remember one thing: Success is ALWAYS dependent on YOUR level of commitment and willingness to learn and change YOUR behavior!!!
